Alyssa Thomas Named to All-WNBA First Team

Uncasville, CT (October 15, 2023) – Connecticut Sun forward, Alyssa Thomas was named to the All-WNBA First Team, the league announced today. This marks the first All-WNBA First Team honor of Thomas’ career, as she was named All-WNBA Second Team in 2022.

The 2023 season proved to be one of Thomas’ greatest performances throughout her ten-year career in the WNBA. The 6-2 forward was named a WNBA All-Star, WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month (June), WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week (3x), Associated Press Player of the Week (3x), WNBA All-Defensive First Team and Associated Press All League First Team throughout 2023. She finished the regular season leading the league in rebounds per game (9.9), second in assists per game (7.9) and third in steals per game (1.8). Thomas also finished second overall in the WNBA Most Valuable Player race (439), receiving the most first-place votes (23).

Additionally, this season Thomas became the WNBA’s all-time leader in regular season triple-doubles (8). She recorded six triple-doubles during the 2023 regular season and also posted a triple-double in Game 4 of the WNBA Semifinals, adding to a league-leading postseason total of three in her playoff career.

The WNBA veteran also etched her name atop the Sun and league history books this season. Thomas moved into first all-time in rebounds, assists, games played, and free-throws made in franchise history. She also set a new WNBA single-season record for assists (316) and double-doubles (28), becoming the first player in WNBA history to record 600+ points, 300+ rebounds and 300+ assists in one season.
