PREVIEW: Connecticut Hosts New York in Lone Preseason Matchup

Uncasville, CT– The Connecticut Sun will play their lone preseason game, hosting their Eastern Conference rival New York Liberty, on Thursday, May 9 at 7:00pm ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. There will be no television broadcast of the preseason game but fans can stream the game feed on the Sun’s YouTube channel, purchase tickets HERE or follow along with the action on Connecticut Sun social media platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook).

Dating back to the 2015 season, the Sun are 17-2 in preseason contests. They have also won nine of their last ten preseason games. Connecticut also hosted New York during preseason play last season, coming away with a 63-57 victory on May 10, 2023. The contest will mark the Sun’s fifth preseason game against the Liberty over the last eight seasons, with the Sun boasting a 4-0 record.

Connecticut is 48-45 all-time vs. New York during regular season play and 6-5 in postseason play. The two teams will meet for the first time since the Liberty defeated the Sun in Game 4 of the 2023 WNBA Semifinals, eliminating the Sun from playoff contention (3-1).

New York fell to Chicago in their first preseason matchup on Tuesday evening, 101-53. Sabrina Ionescu led the way with eight points, while rookie Stephanie Mawuli added six points in the effort.
