Sun Welcome Newcomers, Prepare For Preseason Tests

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (May 6, 2018) — The Connecticut Sun open the preseason by hosting exhibition doubleheaders at Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, the Dallas Wings will face the New York Liberty at 5 p.m. The Sun meet the Los Angeles Sparks at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, the Sparks play the Liberty at 5 p.m. and the Sun host the Wings at 7 p.m.

Connecticut will also host the Atlanta Dream at Webster Bank Arena at 7 p.m. on May 11.

“We have a really competitive camp as people try to fill out our roster,” Sun General Manager and Head Coach Curt Miller said. “I’m excited with our progression. There’s a little bit of a sense of urgency to get a bunch of stuff in with training camp being so short and looking ahead (with) those three homes games to start being so important.”

Over the weekend, guard Leticia Romero and forward Brionna Jones joined Sun training camp, practicing with the team on Saturday and Sunday after completing their overseas commitments.

“I’m really excited to have Bri back after her first season overseas, giving us a big, physical presence,” Miller said of Jones. “Romero, in two practices, being here for 48 hours, has already impacted us. She’s a very smooth decision-maker with the ball (and) a very capable, high efficiency shooter. She’s already raised the level of play.”

The Sun tip off the 2018 regular season on Sunday, May 20th at 1 p.m. against the Las Vegas Aces at Mohegan Sun Arena. Season tickets for 2018 start as low as $22 per game and are available now. Visit ConnecticutSun.com or call 1-877-SUN-TIXX to purchase.
