Sun Meet Sparks for First Time in 2025 Sunday

Los Angeles, CA: The Connecticut Sun (3-17) are back in action on Sunday, July 13 at 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM PT taking on the Los Angeles Sparks (6-14) for the first time this season on the road at Crypto.com Arena. The game will air locally on NBC Sports Boston with Brendan Glasheen and Terrika Foster-Brasby on the call. It will also be available to stream on WNBA League Pass.

Last time out on Friday night, the Sun fell to the Seattle Storm, 79-65, on the road in Seattle. Tina Charles led the Sun with her second-straight double-double, notching 20 points and 10 rebounds. With 20 points on the evening, the WNBA veteran eclipsed 8,000 points in her professional career. She joins Diana Taurasi as the only other player in league history to achieve the 8,000-point feat. Saniya Rivers contributed a career-high tying 12 points, along with two rebounds, three assists and two steals. The rookie guard has gone nine-straight games with at least one steal and put up her 11th game this season with at least 2+ steals.

The Connecticut Sun went 4-0 against the Los Angeles Sparks during the 2024 regular season, most recently winning 86-66 on September 10, 2024 in Los Angeles. Sun guard Marina Mabrey led the way with a season-high 26 points, matching her career-high with six three-point field goals made. The Sun enter Sunday’s contest having won 13 straight regular season meetings against the Sparks, with their last loss coming on August 28, 2020.The Sun are 31-28 all-time against the Sparks, including 13-17 on the road in Los Angeles.

The Sparks enter Sunday’s game coming off a 91-82 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday. Kelsey Plum led the way for Los Angeles with 17 points and 12 assists, while newly acquired guard Julie Vanloo added 15 points in her third game with the team. Head Coach Lynne Roberts enters her first season at the helm of the Sparks, after most recently serving as the head coach for the University of Utah women’s basketball team for nine seasons.
