Sun Complete West Coast Road Trip Sunday Against Aces

Las Vegas, NV: The Connecticut Sun (27-10) complete their west coast road trip when they face off against the Las Vegas Aces (24-13) on Sunday, September 15 at 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM PT at Michelob Ultra Arena. The Sun will look to pick up their first win against the Aces this season, as well as their first win on the road in Las Vegas since June 2022. The game will air on NBC Sports Boston and CBS Sports Network and stream live on WNBA League Pass.

Last Time Out:

The Sun defeated the Phoenix Mercury, 88-69, on the road in Phoenix on Friday night. With the win, the Sun swept the Mercury for the third time over the last four regular seasons, 4-0. Connecticut also picked up their 27th win this season, tying the franchise’s regular season win record set last season (27-13). Brionna Jones led Connecticut with 20 points, nine rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. It marked her fifth 20+ point performance this season and her sixth straight outing scoring at least 17 points.

On the Horizon:

Logging minutes in Sunday’s contest will move 15-year WNBA veteran DeWanna Bonner into sole possession of third all-time in games played in WNBA history, passing Delisha Milton-Jones. Sunday’s game will be her 500th career-game in the WNBA, joining Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird as the only other two player in league history to achieve the feat. She is also currently 32 points from third all-time and 14 rebounds away from 8th in WNBA history. The Sun are also just one win away from setting a new record for most wins in a single season in Connecticut Sun franchise history (previously 27 first set in 2023).

Opponent History:

Connecticut is 33-23 all-time during the regular season against Las Vegas, including 14-14 on the road. The Sun dropped their last meeting with the Aces, 72-67, in Connecticut on September 6. Las Vegas enters Friday night’s contest coming off a 78-74 win over the Indiana Fever on Friday night and also winners of six of their last seven games. Aces six-time WNBA All-Star and two-time WNBA MVP center A’ja Wilson, who recently broke the WNBA single season scoring record on Wednesday night, enters Sunday’s game just 29 points shy of 1,000 points this season. Head Coach Becky Hammon is in her third season with the Aces and holds a 6-2 all-time regular season record against the Sun.
