Uncasville, CT (November 14, 2022) – Jonquel Jones, DeWanna Bonner and CBK Mersin tipped off overseas play last week with a EuroLeague matchup against Basket Landes. CBK Mersin picked up their first EuroLeague victory of the season, 68-61. Jones put on a dominating performance, leading her team with 24 points, 19 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. Bonner notched a double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. Later in the week, CBK Mersin defeated Turkish League opponent Nesibe Aydin, 91-68. Bonner led the way for CBK Mersin, tallying 17 points, three rebounds, five assists and two steals. Jones added 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in the win.
Alyssa Thomas and USK Prague opened last week with a 73-70 victory over Bourges. Thomas led the way with 28 points, nine rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block in USK Prague’s third straight EuroLeague win. To close out the week, Thomas and USK Prague handily defeated Czech League opponent Slavia Prague, 138-23. Thomas notched seven points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals in the victory.
Joyner Holmes and Sassari fell in their EuroCup match of the week against the London Lions, 73-63. Holmes led her team with a double-double, tallying 17 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Later in the week, Holmes and Sassari picked up a win against Ragusa in an Italian League matchup, 78-75. Holmes filled the stat sheet, notching 22 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Nia Clouden and Lublin defeated Ramat Hasharon, 69-66, in a EuroCup showdown. Clouden finished with 11 points, three rebounds and one steal in Lublin’s second EuroCup victory. To close out the week, Clouden and Lublin picked up another victory, defeating Polish League opponent Sleza Wroclaw, 65-59. Clouden tallied 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists in the win.
Connecticut Sun players return to off-season play this week starting with Thomas and USK Prague playing Polkowice at 1:00 P.M. EST on November 15. Jones, Bonner and CBK Mersin take on Miskolc at 11:00 A.M. EST; Clouden and Lublin face of against Panathinaikos at 1:00 P.M. EST; and Holmes and Sassari play La Roche at 2:00 P.M. EST on November 16. To close out the week, Jones, Bonner and CBK play Galatasaray at 10:00 A.M. EST; and Clouden and Lublin face off against Pruszkow at 2:00 P.M. EST on November 19.
