Sun Host Mercury Wednesday Night

Uncasville, CT: The Connecticut Sun (2-9) return home to host the Phoenix Mercury (8-4) on Wednesday, June 18 at 7:00 PM ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. The games will be aired locally on NBC Connecticut and NBC Sports Boston, with Brendan Glasheen, Megan McKeown and Terrika Foster-Brasby on the call. It will also be available to stream on WNBA League Pass.

Last time out on Tuesday night, the Sun fell to the Indiana Fever, 88-71, on the road in Indianapolis. Tina Charles led the Sun with 20 points, four rebounds, a season-high three assists and one block on the night. It marked her fourth 20+ point performance of 2025 and her 10th double-digit scoring finish of the year. Olivia Nelson-Ododa added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds in the effort. She finished 6/8 from the field and tied her season-high with five offensive boards. Jaelyn Brown rounded out the Sun’s double-digit scorers with a season-high 13 points, along with one rebound, one steal and one block in the game.

The Sun swept the Mercury, 4-0, during the 2024 WNBA regular season. In their last match up on September 13, 2024, the Sun defeated the Mercury, 88-69 on the road in Phoenix. Marina Mabrey tallied 19 points, four rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 31 minutes off the bench in the win.

The Sun are 33-24 all-time against the Mercury during the regular season, including a 21-7 record when playing at home. Connecticut has won the last six meeting at home in Uncasville, with their last home loss coming in 2020. The Sun have also won 11 of the last 13 regular season contests against the Mercury, dating back to the 2021 regular season.

The Mercury enter Wednesday’s game coming of a 76-70 road win over the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday afternoon. The 2025 Phoenix roster features many new faces, including five-time WNBA All-Star and former Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas. Thomas played with the Sun for 11 seasons (2014-2024) and currently sits first all-time in Connecticut Sun franchise history in games played, rebounds, assists, double-doubles and triple-doubles. The Mercury also welcomed All-WNBA First Team member Satou Sabally during the 2025 free agency period, who is leading the team with 20.6 points per game.
