Sun Continue Their Road Trip in Phoenix on Friday Night

Phoenix, AZ: The Connecticut Sun (26-10) are back in action Friday, September 13 at 10:00 PM ET/7:00 PM PT against the Phoenix Mercury (17-19) on the road at the Footprint Center. The Sun enter Friday night’s contest 3-0 against the Mercury during the 2024 regular season. The game will air on ION and stream live on WNBA League Pass.

The Sun defeated the Sparks, 86-66, on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, picking up their 13th straight regular season win against Los Angeles dating back to the 2020 season. Marina Mabrey led the Sun in scoring with a season-high 26 points, tying her career-high with six made three-point field goals. She also added two rebounds, four assists and one block in 27 minutes off the bench for Connecticut. Brionna Jones added 19 points, eight rebounds, one assist and two blocks in the win. She has gone for 17+ points in Connecticut’s last five outings. Alyssa Thomas finished three-points shy of what would have been her second straight triple-double. She notched seven points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists and one steal in the game. She also became the franchise leader in field goals made (1484), steals (491) and double-doubles (81) in the win.

Leading candidate for the league’s Most Improved award and contender for WNBA All-Defensive Team and Defensive Player of the Year DiJonai Carrington has been racking up the steals in the latter half of the regular season. Over the last 11 games, Carrington has notched 29 steals (2.6 spg), which matches her total through her first 24 games. She currently leads the WNBA in most games with 5+ steals, doing it on three occasions this season, and is seventh overall in steals per game (1.7).

Connecticut is 32-24 all-time against Phoenix during the regular season, including an 11-17 record on the road. In their last meeting, the Sun defeated the Mercury, 96-69, at home in Uncasville.
