Sun Back on the Road Wednesday Against Fever

Indianapolis, IN: The Connecticut Sun (22-7) head to Indianapolis to take on Eastern Conference foe Indiana Fever (14-16) on Wednesday, August 28 at 7:00 PM ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Sun are 3-0 against the Fever during the 2024 season and will look for the regular season sweep on Wednesday night. The game will air on NBC Sports Boston and NBA TV and also stream live on WNBA League Pass.

Storylines:

Last Time Out:

The Sun defeated the New York Liberty on Saturday night, 72-64, in Brooklyn. Connecticut snapped a seven-game regular season losing streak to New York dating back to the 2022 regular season. The Sun also ended the Liberty’s eight-game win streak. Marina Mabrey led Connecticut in the win with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal. Olivia Nelson-Ododa added a season-high 12 points and four rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench.

Postseason Bound:

On August 24, the Sun clinched a spot in the WNBA Playoffs with a win over the New York Liberty and a loss by the Indiana Fever. The Sun are headed to the WNBA postseason for the eighth consecutive season, the longest active streak in the WNBA. Connecticut is 40-41 all-time in postseason play and have not been eliminated earlier than the Semifinals since the 2018 season. The Sun will look to make at their first WNBA Finals appearance since 2022 and win the franchise’s first WNBA Championship.

Making An Impact:

On July 17, the Sun acquired veteran guard Marina Mabrey in a trade with the Chicago Sky. Since joining Connecticut, Mabrey has already made an impact on the team’s success. Over five games coming back from the Olympic break, Mabrey is averaging a team best 14.4 points per game and 2.6 three-point field goals per game. She has finished in double-figures in four of the five games post break and led the team in scoring on two occasions, including a season-high 24 points against her former team on August 23.

Opponent History:

Connecticut is 58-31 all-time against Indiana during regular season action, with a 25-20 record on the road. The Sun have won the last 11 regular season meetings against the Fever, dating back to the 2021 season. Indiana enters Wednesday night’s contest winners of three straight home games. Last time out, the Fever picked up an 84-79 win over the Atlanta Dream on Monday. Head Coach Christie Sides is in her second season with the Fever and is 0-7 all-time against the Sun during regular season action.
