On Friday morning, former NBA star Jason Collins spent time speaking to students at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School in New London.
Collins, the first openly gay athlete in any of the four major professional sports leagues, shared story, both on and off the basketball court, with the group. Currently an NBA Global Ambassador, Collins addressed overcoming adversity while staying true to ones self.
The former center is in town to help the Sun celebrate Pride Night on June 10th. He will address the crowd at halftime and will be available for photos and autographs at the post game pool party. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by clicking HERE.
