Game Notes

  • The Connecticut Sun (17-6) defeated the Minnesota Lynx (13-9) for the second straight game, 82-71.  The Sun continue to hold the best home record in the league at 10-1 and are on a five-game winning streak.
  • Connecticut is 14-3 when leading at the half and 17-5 when they score more than 70 points.
  • Connecticut outscored Minnesota, 17-14, in the first quarter. Jonquel Jones scored seven of her 20 points to help push the Sun ahead early.
  • The Sun opened the second quarter on an 8-2 run over the Lynx. Minnesota fought back and came within three (28-25) with five and a half minutes left on the clock. Connecticut went into the break up 42-36.
  • Connecticut extended their lead back up to 12 (55-43) with nine straight points coming from DeWanna Bonner and J. Jones. The Sun finished the third on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 14 going into the final quarter.
  • Minnesota came back within five (74-69) with a minute and a half left to play. However, Connecticut secured the win by shooting 6-6 from the freethrow line.
  • Bonner tallied a new season high of 31 points to earn her fourth double-double of the season and 50th of her career. She led the game in points and tied a game high with 11 rebounds.
  • Connecticut Sun forward Brionna Jones reached 800 career points, ending the night with eight.
  • Jasmine Thomas moved past Katie Smith to become 15th all-time in WNBA history for assists (1,260).
  • Sylvia Fowles earned herself a double-double finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Connecticut scored 17 points from turnovers compared to Minnesota’s 18. The Sun outrebounded the Lynx 31-22. The Sun found themselves at the freethrow line 25 times and converted 23 of their attempts. This tied the team’s season-high freethrows made. Minnesota went to the line and hit 10-of-10 shots.
