Connecticut Sun to Sponsor the Eastern Connecticut Conference Player of the Week

Uncasville, CT (December 12, 2022) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced its sponsorship of the Eastern Connecticut Conference’s Boys and Girls Basketball “Player of the Week” awards. The move is part of an ongoing effort to build ties with local high school athletic conferences and to support youth basketball programs in the New England area.

“The Eastern Connecticut Conference is proud to partner with the Connecticut Sun in an effort to highlight our top girls’ and boys’ basketball players on a weekly basis,” remarked Jim Buonocore, Eastern Connecticut Conference Basketball Chairman. “The Connecticut Sun have made a concerted effort to build relationships within the ECC and help promote and grow the game of basketball in the state of Connecticut. Our partnership, specifically geared to the sport of basketball, continues to place the ECC at the forefront of high school athletics in our state. We are thankful to the Connecticut Sun for this opportunity.”

Each Monday night—starting Monday, December 19, until the conclusion of the ECC’s regular season—the winners of each week’s “ECC Player of the Week” honor will be posted to the Connecticut Sun’s social media pages and will receive a prize package from the Connecticut Sun that will include tickets to a game and Sun merchandise. In addition to the prizes, the Sun will be creating opportunities for ECC players to participate in Connecticut Sun clinics to further develop their skills and providing additional community opportunities throughout every school district, at all ages, in the ECC.

“Our partnership with the ECC is a great opportunity for the Sun to show our support and appreciation for young athletes and their teams, across the state. We’re proud to provide ECC athletes and schools with various opportunities to work with us and attend games this summer. Our goal is to highlight those who are excelling on the court and inspire the next generation of athletes.” – Morgan Tuck, Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager
