Connecticut Sun Statement on COVID-19 Test Results

UNCASVILLE, CT (July 12, 2020)- In a round of COVID-19 tests conducted between June 28-July 5, Connecticut Sun guard, Natisha Hiedeman tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Hiedeman did not travel with the team to IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL for training camp.

Additionally, precautionary measures were taken due to the CDC’s close contact self-quarantine guidance and Briann January is the second member of the Sun who did not travel with the team to Bradenton, FL. Following the initial round of testing, January also tested positive for COVID-19.

Both individuals have remained in self-isolation and are complying with all health and safety protocols put in place by the WNBA and CDC. The pair are expected to arrive to IMGA following a succession of two negative tests and will begin another round of quarantine and testing once on campus.

Out of respect of their privacy, neither athlete is taking media interview requests until further notice.

The Connecticut Sun and its athletes encourage everyone to continue following state and national guidelines set in place surrounding COVID-19. For more information on the 2020 WNBA season and the Connecticut Sun, visit connecticutsun.com.
