Connecticut Sun Participates in the ‘Let’s Get Active: WNBA NGWSD Recess Celebration’ Program

Uncasville, CT (February 1, 2023) – Today, to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), the Connecticut Sun is participating in the “Let’s Get Active: WNBA NGWSD Recess Celebration” program.

The “Let’s Get Active: WNBA NGWSD Recess Celebration” program encouraged all 12 teams in the WNBA to provide opportunities to underserved communities to engage with WNBA players, improve their kids’ fundamental basketball skills, and have fun. In addition, the WNBA aims to generate excitement around sports among young people and increase awareness for the league and its players. Wilson Sporting Goods will provide basketballs during the team-hosted events to all youth participants.

The Connecticut Sun is taking part by hosting a clinic at Platt High School (220 Coe Ave, Meriden, Connecticut 06451) from 10:30-11:30 AM EST. Led by Connecticut Sun guards DiJonai Carrington and Courtney Williams, the Sun will be providing approximately 50 students from Platt High School and Lincoln Middle Schools’ basketball teams with a skills clinic and Connecticut Sun swag bags.

“National Girls and Women in Sports Day is such a wonderful celebration of the opportunities and dreams that sports have made possible for countless women and girls. To be able to take even a small part in paying forward the wonderful opportunities and experiences that we have all had, especially on this day, is so special; and the Connecticut Sun is proud to participate.” – Morgan Tuck, Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager
