Connecticut Sun Announces Its 2024 Theme Nights and Promotional Packages

Uncasville, CT (March 15, 2024) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced its theme nights and promotional schedule for the 2024 season. To accompany the first-class basketball and family-friendly environment that fans enjoy when attending Connecticut Sun games in person, fans will have numerous chances to participate in exciting contests, honor changemakers in their local communities, and collect Connecticut Sun swag and prizes.

The 2024 season tips off with the Sun’s Bring the Heat Home Opener presented by Walgreens during Connecticut’s first matchup against the Indiana Fever at Mohegan Sun Arena at 7:30PM EST on May 14. Fans will get to know the Connecticut Sun’s newest players, while welcoming back their favorite players from the 2023 season, including the Engine, Alyssa Thomas; five-time WNBA All Star DeWanna Bonner; and the 2022 Sixth Player of the Year, Brionna Jones, playing back on her home court for the first time after suffering an Achilles injury during the 2023 season.

The month of May will see four more home games at Mohegan Sun Arena, continuing on May 17 at 7:30PM EST against the Washington Mystics, where the first 2,500 fans will have the opportunity to pick up a Connecticut Sun hat sponsored by TRULY. Ten days later on May 28, the Sun will take on the Phoenix Mercury at 7:00PM EST for Sustainability Night presented by Connecticut Green Bank, where fans will receive tote bags containing seed packets, courtesy of Connecticut Green Bank. May concludes with a Friday night matchup against the Dallas Wings at 7:30PM EST on May 31 for Superhero Night, presented by Yale New Haven Health. Fans will have a chance to thank and recognize active military, veterans, first responders and essential workers throughout the New England region. Fans are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero and will have the opportunity to get their photo taken on the Mohegan Sun Arena concourse! The first 2,500 in Mohegan Sun Arena will receive a tote bag from Two Roads Brewing Company.

June will house three heavy-hitting theme nights, starting with the Connecticut Sun’s PRIDE game, presented by Jordan’s Furniture against the New York Liberty on June 8 at 1:00PM EST. Fans will have the opportunity to show their pride, loud and proud, as part of Mohegan Sun Casino’s larger PRIDE celebration. Fans will also enjoy a special halftime performance that will be announced at a later date. The first 3,500 fans will receive a crossbody bag sponsored by Jordan’s Furniture. Mid-way through June, the Sun will host its Juneteenth Celebration. Fans can celebrate Juneteenth with multiple performances, a HBCU college fair on the Mohegan Sun Arena concourse, and a look at what the Connecticut Sun has done in the community through its “Change Can’t Wait” platform. The Juneteenth Item of the Game will be a Juneteenth Change Can’t Wait shirt for only $15. Proceeds will go to the Compass Youth Collective. To close out the month of June, the Sun will host 90’s Night, during the team’s game on June 28 against the Atlanta Dream at 7:30PM EST. 90’s Night will be punctuated by a popular halftime performance to be announced at a later date, and a bucket hat giveaway sponsored by Michelob Ultra.

The Sun will host three themed games in July. On July 7 at 1:00PM EST, the Connecticut Sun will welcome the Atlanta Dream. The first 4,000 fans in Mohegan Sun Arena will receive a Brionna Jones Bobble Head, sponsored by Walgreens. Later that week, against the New York Liberty on July 10 at 11:00AM EST, the Sun will host Camp Day and Blaze’s Birthday. Blaze and his mascot friends will be celebrating his 20th birthday. The first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive retractable Connecticut Sun banners, sponsored by Liberty Bank. July will end with the Connecticut Sun’s Indigenous Peoples’ game, presented by Yale New Haven Health, during the Sun’s game against the Phoenix Mercury on July 14 at 1:00PM EST. Fans can join the Connecticut Sun, as the organization celebrates the Mohegan Tribe’s past, present and future. Fans will have the chance to learn about the Mohegan Tribe, witness special traditions and performances by Mohegan dancers, and highlight other Tribes in Connecticut.

After the month-long WNBA’s Olympic Break, the Sun come back in full force hosting the first-ever professional women’s basketball game at the storied TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. During the Boston Game, presented by Meet Boston, the Sun will be celebrating women in sports all over New England and will take on the Los Angeles Sparks at 7:00PM EST on August 20. The first 5,000 fans inside TD Garden will receive a Connecticut Sun t-shirt. Three days later, the Sun will return to Mohegan Sun Arena to take on the Chicago Sky on August 23 at 7:30PM EST for Women of Inspiration Night, sponsored by Post University. The Sun will be honoring women that have made a difference in their respective fields and industries. The first 2,500 fans will receive a jersey lunch bag, sponsored by Post University.

The final month of the regular season will start with a special giveaway item. The first 4,000 fans to enter Mohegan Sun Arena during the team’s game against the Seattle Storm on September 1 at 1:00PM EST will receive a DeWanna Bonner Bobble Head, sponsored by Post University. On September 6, the Sun will host Sneakerhead Night, presented by Post University, during the team’s game against the Las Vegas Aces at 7:30PM EST. Fans will enjoy several activities on the Mohegan Sun Arena concourse, including a special orange carpet where fans can show off their kicks. One fan will even be voted “Best Drip” and will receive a Connecticut Sun swag bag. Last but not least, the Sun will be closing out the 2024 regular season with Fan Appreciation Night, sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, against the Chicago Sky on September 19 at 7:00PM EST. The Sun will be giving away a whole host of different prizes all game long, and the first 2,500 fans will also be receiving a Connecticut Sun t-shirt.
