Connecticut Sun Announce Activations for Year Two of Partnership with Post University

–‘Threes for Degrees’ In-Game Initiative to provide access to higher education–

Uncasville, CT (April 12, 2023) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced its activations for the second of the organization’s five-year deal with Post University. Post University—an academic institution located in Waterbury, Connecticut that provides in-person, online and hybrid secondary education courses—is the Official Education Partner and the Jersey Patch Sponsor for the Connecticut Sun through the 2026 season.

“We understand that education is such a basic right and Post University continually seeks out opportunities that extend access to advance learning and innovation for individuals,” said Post University CEO & President John L. Hopkins. “From the beginning, we felt that our partnership with the Connecticut Sun players, the Mohegan Tribe and the employees of Mohegan Gaming was a winning combination. As we enter our second year, our impact on education equity will continue to grow.”

Post University has a slew of activations for the 2023 season to get fans involved, as well as to give students opportunities to gain skills in the professional sports world. Post University will be the Presenting Sponsor of three home games this season: the Home Opener on May 21 at 1:00PM against the Indiana Fever; Women of Inspiration Night during Connecticut’s August 31 game against the Phoenix Mercury at 7:00 PM, where the Sun will be honoring women that have made strides and a difference in their fields and industries; and Bobblehead Night during the Sun’s game on August 24 against the New York Liberty at 7:00 PM, where the first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive an Alyssa Thomas bobblehead.

The hallmark of this season’s activations will be the Connecticut Sun’s “Threes for Degrees” initiative. “Threes for Degrees” is an in-game initiative created with the intent of providing access to higher education. For every three-pointer made by Connecticut Sun players at home games at Mohegan Sun Arena, Post University will donate $100 to support an educational scholarship for a young student as they pursue their higher education.

“We are so grateful for our continued partnership with Post University, an institution that has truly bought into what we are building here at the Sun both on the court and in the community. We are truly invested in providing access and resources to marginalized members of our community, and having sponsors who are willing to partner with us on initiatives like ‘Threes for Degrees’ makes our goals a reality.” – Morgan Tuck, Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager.
