Connecticut Hosts Dallas on Friday Night
Uncasville, CT: The Connecticut Sun (2-10) are back in action on Friday, June 20 at 7:30 PM ET at Mohegan Sun Arena when they host the Dallas Wings (2-11) for the second time this season. The game will be aired nationally on ION with Brendan Glasheen, Ashley Battle and Terrika Foster-Brasby on the call. It will also be available to stream on WNBA League Pass.
Last time out on Wednesday night, the Sun fell to the Phoenix Mercury, 83-75, at home in Uncasville. Rookie forward Aneesah Morrow tallied a career-high 16 points, nine rebounds, one assist and three steals in 23 minutes off the bench to lead the Sun offensively. She went 5/11 from the floor and 6/8 from the charity stripe in the meaningful effort. Her 16 points off the bench marks the most bench scoring production from an individual Sun player this season.
Jacy Sheldon added 13 points and one assist in the game. She notched all 13 of her points in the second quarter and finished 3/6 from beyond the arc in 24 minutes played. Olivia Nelson-Ododa chipped in a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. She also added one assist and a season-high three blocks. Despite the loss, the Sun hit season-highs as a team fast-break points (18) and bench points (33).
The Sun fell in their first match up with the Dallas Wings this season on May 27, 109-87, at home in Uncasville. Tina Charles finished with a season-high 27 points, along with six rebounds, three assists and one steal on the night. Marina Mabrey added 19 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in the game. She tallied a season-high four three-point field goals in 28 minutes of action. The Sun enter Friday’s contest winning six of the last 11 regular season meetings dating back to the 2022 season. The Sun is also 25-15 all-time against the Dallas Wings franchise when playing at home and hold a 45-35 record all-time.
The Wings enter Friday’s game coming of an 80-71 win over the Golden State Valkyries on Tuesday night in Texas. Rookie guard Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 20 points off 9-18 shooting, while Arike Ogunbowale added 19 points and a game-high six assists on the night. Head Coach Chris Koclanes enters his first season as the Head Coach of the Wings, after previously serving as an assistant coach for USC women’s basketball (2024), the Los Angeles Sparks (2023) and the Connecticut Sun (2019-2022).
