Alyssa Thomas Selected to USA Women’s 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament Roster

Uncasville, CT (February 4, 2024) – Today, the USA Basketball Women’s Basketball Team Committee announced that the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament roster will include Connecticut Sun forward and four-time WNBA All-Star Alyssa Thomas.

Thomas was one of 12 athletes selected from a pool of 18 players who attended the USA minicamp this weekend in Brooklyn, NY. She will join the team to represent the United States in the 2024 FIBA Women’s Qualifying Tournament on February 8-11 in Antwerp, Belgium.

Though the United States has already qualified for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games following the gold medal finish at the 2022 World Cup, the team will participate in the quadrennial qualifying tournament. The four-nation pool in Antwerp will feature matchups vs. Belgium on Feb. 8 at 2:45 p.m. ET, Nigeria on Feb. 9 at 12:15 p.m. ET and Senegal on Feb. 11 at 1:15 p.m. ET. Thomas was a member of the USA Women’s 2022 World Cup winning team, along with Connecticut Sun teammate Brionna Jones. During the gold-medal run, Thomas averaged 9.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.4 steals over eight games. She was named to the World Cup 2022 All-Second Team and was awarded the Best Defensive Player honor.
