Hello Everyone!

This is week 9 of my rehab journey and I was able to start something else this week that’s pretty exciting! Before I get into my new endeavor, I’ll fill you in on my rehab progress. This week Janelle added some new exercises for me to try. I really look forward to the weeks when my rehab program changes because like I said before, rehab can get a little repetitive. This week we added squats with a band, band ankle walks, wall sits, single calf raises, and a balance exercise. I get so excited about new exercises because it makes me feel like I’m making progress and that my hard work is slowly paying off.

Now, about my exciting new endeavor: This week, I started…COACHING! I started helping my sister, Taylor, coach her team at Dover High School in Dover, DE. I’m a volunteer coach which means that I help with the team when I can. This was the first time I got to see Taylor in action coaching her team. It was awesome to see her share her great knowledge of the game with the players. This was also my first time trying to help coach a team. Let’s just say it’s not as easy as it looks! Their season is just getting underway and I just started working with the team. I can already tell that it’s going to be a great experience for me. Being able to help develop players is a great honor and it’s something that I can tell I’ll enjoy doing.

This isn’t a typical topic of my blogs but I want everyone to know that November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. Pancreatic Cancer is the 3rd largest killer of all cancer killers and the least funded of the top 10 cancers. It is also the only cancer on the top 10 list with a single digit survival rate after five years. If you look down at the pictures from this week you’ll see me doing a wall sit with a “Project Purple” shirt on. Project Purple is a non-profit organization with a mission of raising awareness and funds towards a cure for pancreatic cancer.
