Sun Visit Sky for Saturday Afternoon Showdown
Chicago, IL: The Connecticut Sun (8-27) head to Illinois to take on the Chicago Sky (9-26) on Saturday, August 23 at 4:00 PM ET/3:00 PM CT at Wintrust Arena. The game will air nationally on CBS Sports Network. It will also air locally on NBC Sports Boston with John Brickley and Terrika Foster-Brasby on the call. It will also be available to stream on WNBA League Pass.
The Sun picked up a 67-56 win over the Washington Mystics on Thursday, August 21 at home at Mohegan Sun Arena. It marked the first time Connecticut has notched back-to-back wins this season. Veteran forward Tina Charles led the way with 21 points, six rebounds and two steals. Charles also moved into sole possession of 10th all-time in games played in WNBA history, competing in her 464th career-game. Aaliyah Edwards added 10 points and five rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench in the win against her former squad. Her 10 points marked her highest scoring total in a Sun uniform thus far. Rookie Leila Lacan added five points, three rebounds, a team-high five assists and a team-high five steals. Lacan has gone for 5+ steals on three occasions this season, the most by any WNBA player in 2025.
Last time out against the Chicago Sky on Wednesday, August 13, the Sun were victorious at home, 71-62. Rookie guard Leila Lacan led Connecticut with 17 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals. Tina Charles added 15 points, three rebounds, one steal and one block in the win. Connecticut recorded a season-low six turnovers in the game, resulting in just five Chicago points. The Sun turned Chicago over 21 times, scoring 16 points of their mistakes. The Sun have won their last four regular season contests against the Sky when playing in Chicago, dating back to the 2023 season.
The Sky picked up their ninth win of the season on Thursday night on the road against the New York Liberty, 91-85. Kamilla Cardoso led Chicago with a double-double, tallying 22 points and 15 rebounds, while her teammate Angel Reese added a double-double of her own with 21 points and 10 rebounds. After serving as an assistant with the Las Vegas Aces for three seasons (2022-2024), Head Coach Tyler Marsh is in his first season at the helm of the Sky.
