Sun Back in Action Sunday Afternoon Hosting the Sky
Uncasville, CT: The Connecticut Sun (2-7) are back in action after a week break to take on the Chicago Sky (2-7) on Sunday, June 15 at 12:00 PM ET at home at Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will be aired nationally on CBS with Jordan Kent, Ice Young and Tiffany Blackmon on the call.
Last time out on Sunday June 8, the Sun fell to the Washington Mystics on the road, 104-67. Tina Charles finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, one assists and one steal to lead all Connecticut scorers in the game. She had finished in double-digits in eight of the Sun’s nine contest this season, leading the team in scoring in five games. Jacy Sheldon notched a season-high 15 points in 23 minutes played off the bench in the effort. She finished 6/8 from the floor and went 3/5 from beyond the three-point line. She also added one rebound, one assist, one steal and one block in the game.
The Sun swept the Sky during the 2024 regular season, 4-0. The feat marked the first time since Chicago’s inaugural season in 2006 that Connecticut went undefeated against the Sky during regular season action. In their latest meeting on September 19, 2024, Connecticut defeated Chicago, 87-54, at home in Uncasville. Marina Mabrey finished with 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block, while Olivia Nelson-Ododa tied her season-high with 12 points, four rebounds, one steal and a season-high three blocks. The win marked the Sun’s 28th win of the 2024 regular season, setting a new franchise record for most wins a single regular season.
Connecticut has won seven of the last eight regular season meeting against Chicago, dating back to the 2023 regular season. The Sun are 37-32 all-time against the Sky during regular season play, including 19-14 when playing at home in Uncasville.
The Sky enter Sunday’s game coming off an 88-70 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Friday night. Center Kamilla Cardoso led the way for Chicago, notching 15 points and nine rebounds in the effort. After serving as an assistant with the Las Vegas Aces for three seasons (2022-2024), Head Coach Tyler Marsh is in his first season at the helm of the Sky.
