Sun Conclude Road Trip vs. Valkyries Monday Night
San Francisco, CA: The Connecticut Sun (5-25) conclude their west coast road-trip, taking on the Golden State Valkyries (15-15) for the final time this season on Monday, August 11 at 10:00 PM ET/7:00 PM PT at Chase Center. The game will air locally on NBC Sports Boston with Brendan Glasheen and Ashley on the call. It will also be available to stream on WNBA League Pass.
In their last game on Sunday night, the Sun fell in a close matchup with the Las Vegas Aces, 94-86, on the road in Las Vegas. Marina Mabrey led the way for the Sun with 22 points, four rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes played. She went for 20+ points for the fifth time this season and first time since June 15 against Chicago. Saniya Rivers added 17 points, one rebound, four assists, three steals and one block in 28 minutes off the bench in the game. The outing marked her first 10+ point performance since July 13 against Los Angeles and ninth of the season. Forward Aaliyah Edwards made her debut with the Sun tonight. She finished with four points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 17 minutes off the bench.
Last time out against the Golden State Valkyries on July 27, the Sun enjoyed their largest win of the season, 95-64, at home in Uncasville. The Sun’s 31-point victory marks the team’s first 30+ point regular season win since September 19, 2024; third 30+ points win in the last four regular seasons and 15th 30+ point win in franchise regular season history. Tina Charles led the Sun in the win, tallying 24 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in just 19 minutes played. She finished 8/11 from the field and 7/7 from the free-throw line. She also finished with a team-best +/- at +39 on the day
The Valkyries enter Monday’s game coming off a 72-59 home win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday night. Former Sun guard Veronica Burton led Golden State with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and one block. Golden State holds a 9-5 record at home this season and are currently seventh in league standings.
