Sun Back In Action Friday Hosting Dream
Uncasville, CT: The Connecticut Sun (1-6) host the Atlanta Dream (5-2) in their second Commissioner’s Cup match up on Friday, June 6 at 7:30 PM ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will air nationally on ION with Brendan Glasheen, Ashley Battle and Terrika Foster-Brasby on the call. It will also be available to stream on WNBA League Pass.
The Sun return home after going 1-1 on their most recent road trip last weekend. The team picked up its first win of 2025 over the Indiana Fever, 85-83, on Friday, May 30, before falling to the defending WNBA Champion New York Liberty, 100-52, on Sunday, June 1.
In their first meeting against the Dream during the 2025 regular season on the road in Atlanta, the Sun fell, 79-55. Marina Mabrey led the Sun in the effort, notching her third career double-double with a team-high 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in the game. The outing also marked Mabrey’s second career-game with 10+ rebounds. Tina Charles and Olivia Nelson-Ododa each added 11 points to round out the Sun’s double-digit scorers.
Connecticut enters Friday night’s match up with a 33-31 all-time regular season record with Atlanta, including a 21-11 record when playing at home in Connecticut. The Sun have won six of the last 10 regular season meetings, dating back to the 2022 season.
Atlanta Dream forward Brionna Jones will make her first appearance at Mohegan Sun Arena since playing with the Sun for the first eight years of her WNBA career (2017-2024). Jones was a 3x WNBA All-Star, WNBA Sixth Player of the Year and WNBA Most Improved Player during her time in Connecticut.
The Dream enter Friday night’s game coming off a successful west coast road trip last week. Atlanta defeated the Los Angeles Sparks, 88-82, on Tuesday, May 27 and took home a 94-87 over the Seattle Storm on Friday, May 30. Reigning WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week and Month (May) Allisha Gray is currently leading the Dream in scoring at 21.4 points per game.
