Sun Take On Dream on Monday Afternoon
Uncasville, CT: The Connecticut Sun (10-29) are back in action on Monday, September 1 at 1:00pm ET, hosting the Atlanta Dream (25-14) at Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will air locally on NBC Sports Boston with Brendan Glasheen, Edona Thaqi and Terrika Foster-Brasby on the call. It will also be available to stream on WNBA League Pass. The match up marks the first of three remaining regular season contests between the Sun and Dream, as the two teams will play each other in three of Connecticut’s final five games.
The Sun fell in their last game to the Minnesota Lynx, 94-70, at home in Uncasville. Tina Charles led Connecticut with 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes played. With eight rebounds on the evening, Charles passed Jonquel Jones into third all-time in rebounding in Connecticut Sun franchise history. She now has 1,635 rebounds in a Sun uniform in her career. Marina Mabrey added 14 points, four rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes of action. Sophomore forward Aaliyah Edwards rounded out the Sun’s double-digit scorers with 11 points, five rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes off the bench. Her 11 points mark a new season-high for Edwards with the Sun.
Last time out against the Atlanta Dream on June 6, the Sun were victorious, 84-76, at home in Uncasville. Marina Mabrey finished with a season-high 34 points, four rebounds, four assists and one block in 33 minutes of action. Her 34 points fell two short of her career-high and also her first 30+ outing since the 2023 regular season. She has gone for 30+ points four times in her WNBA career. Tina Charles added 19 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 32 minutes played in the game. The Sun hold a 22-11 all-time record when playing the Dream at home during the regular season.
The Dream enter Monday’s contest coming of an 100-78 win over the Dallas Wings on Friday night. With the win, Atlanta officially clinched a spot in the 2025 WNBA playoffs. Rhyne Howard led the Dream with 24 points, four rebounds and five assists, while Allisha Gray added 19 points and former Sun forward Brionna Jones added 16 points.
