Uncasville, CT (March 28, 2022) – Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones and USK Praha tipped off overseas play this week with an impressive 110-45 win against Ostrava in Game 2 of the Czech League Quarterfinals. A. Thomas led the way for her squad, notching a double-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and four steals. B. Jones had 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in her effort. Three days later, USK Praha defeated Ostrava in Game 3 of the Czech League Quarterfinals, 121-40. B. Jones had a double-double with 21 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals. A. Thomas filled the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 assists, four rebounds, seven steals and one block in the decisive playoff victory. To close out the week, USK Praha moved onto the Czech League Semifinals to take on KP Brno. USK Praha won Game 1, 92-50. B. Jones dominated offensively, tallying 39 points, along with eight rebounds and three assists. A. Thomas added 11 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block.

Jasmine Thomas, Dewanna Bonner and CBK Mersin defeated Hatay in the Turkish Cup Quarterfinals, 81-58. Bonner led her team with 23 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, four steals and two blocks in the victory. J. Thomas had eight points, three rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block. CBK Mersin advanced to the Semifinals of the Turkish Cup to play Ormanspor. In their match against Ormanspor, CBK Mersin pulled out a close victory winning, 96-93. Bonner finished with 24 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. In their final game of the week, the Turkish Cup Championship game, CBK Mersin defeated Fenerbahce, 71-58. Bonner was her squad’s leading scorer, with 24 points and nine rebounds. J. Thomas tallied five points, one rebounds, two assists and one steal in the win.

Beatrice Mompremier and Uni Gyor dropped Game 2 of the Hungarian League Quarterfinals against Miskolc, 75-63. Mompremier notched a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, along with one steal and one block in the effort. Uni Gyor’s loss of the series, 0-2, ended their journey to the Hungarian League championship. Mompremier was named the MVP for Uni Gyor’s 2021-22 season.

Yvonne Anderson and Umana Reyer matched up against Italian League opponent, San Giovanni, winning, 85-72. Anderson finished with nine points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block. Later in the week, Umana Reyer took on Virtus Bologna, falling in a close game, 76-64. Anderson had eight points, three rebounds, four assists and one steal. Umana Reyer is currently fourth in Italian League standings with a record of 15-2.

Stephanie Jones and Gorzow took on Polkowice in Game 1 of the Polish League Semifinals, falling 88-67. S. Jones notched a double-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and one block. The following day, Gorzow dropped Game 2 to Polkowice in the Polish League Semifinals, 82-48. S. Jones tallied 13 points, nine rebounds, two steals and one block in the effort.

Connecticut Sun players are back in action overseas this week beginning with J. Thomas, Bonner and CBK Mersin taking on Turkish League opponent, Ormanspor, at 10:00 A.M. EST; and B. Jones, A. Thomas and USK Praha playing KP Brno in Game 2 of the Czech League Semifinals at 12:00 P.M. EST on March 29. Anderson and Umana Reyer face off against Italian League foe, Broni, at 12:00 P.M. EST on March 31. Bonner, J. Thomas and CBK Mersin play Izmit at 7:00 A.M. EST; and B. Jones, A. Thomas and USK Praha take on KP Brno in Game 3 of the Czech League Semifinals at 1:00 P.M. EST on April 1. To round out overseas play this week, Anderson and Umana Reyer take on Empoli at 2:30 P.M. EST; and S. Jones and Gorzow play Polkowice in Game 3 of the Polish League Semifinals at 12:00 P.M. EST on April 2nd.
