In my second installment of Miller’s Matchups, I encourage Sun fans to keep an eye this Saturday on a few key games outside of the power five conferences. These games may not be on your radar, but I promise you they are key games in the chase for conference regular season championships.
Colorado State at New Mexico
This matchup brings back memories when I coached at Colorado State during the Becky Hammon Era. We played at UNM during Becky Hammon and Katie Cronin’s senior year in front of over 17,000 fans. New Mexico may not draw 17,000 on Saturday, but this is a huge game in the Mountain West Conference race.
Belmont at Morehead
Both teams are off to a fast start in the Ohio Valley Conference regular season. The winner of this key Saturday matchup will put themselves in the early driver’s seat.
One other intriguing Saturday matchup I should mention takes place in the Sun Belt as Troy takes on UT-Arlington.
If my Saturday mid-major matchups didn’t catch your attention, then I encourage you to tune in to watch an important Big 12 game when Texas travels to WVU to take on the Mountaineers.
Texas’s Kelsey Lang and WVU’s Lanay Montgomery are two of the most talented Senior post players in the country and will face off in this important battle.
