GAME PREVIEW: Sun Meet Wings for First Time in 2024 Friday Night
Uncasville, CT– The Connecticut Sun (6-0) will host the Dallas Wings (3-2) on Friday, May 31 at 7:30pm ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will air on ION and also stream live on WNBA League Pass.
Last time out on Tuesday night, the Connecticut Sun defeated the Phoenix Mercury, 70-47, at Mohegan Sun Arena. DeWanna Bonner led the Sun to the win, tallying her 7,000th career-point with 19 points, three rebounds, one steal and one block on the night. Bonner joined Diana Taurasi, Tina Thompson, Tamika Catchings and Tina Charles as one of five players in WNBA history hit 7,000 points in their careers.
As of games through May 29, Sun forward Alyssa Thomas is second in assists per game (7.8) across the league. Brionna Jones is second in FG% in the WNBA, shooting 60.4% from the floor. As a team, the Sun lead the league in net rating (12.8) and defensive rating (91.5) and are also fourth in the WNBA in points per game (83.8), fifth in free-throw percentage (80.9%), second in second chance points per game (17.0) and third in points in the paint per game (40.3).
The Sun are the only undefeated team in the WNBA, starting the 2024 season, 6-0. The team’s 6-0 start marks the longest win streak to start the regular season in franchise history and ties the 2010 Atlanta Dream for the 6th longest win streak to begin the regular season. The 2024 Sun are also one of 13 teams in WNBA history to start a season 6-0 or better.
Connecticut is 42-33 all-time versus Dallas during the regular season, with a 24-14 record at home. The Wings enter Friday night’s game coming off an 84-83 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday. Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in the game. Head Coach Latricia Trammell is in her second season with the Wings.
