GAME PREVIEW: Connecticut Begin Three-Game Homestand Tuesday Against Washington
Uncasville, CT– The Connecticut Sun (8-0) begin a three-game homestand hosting the Washington Mystics (0-8) on Tuesday, June 4 at 7:00 PM ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will air on NBC Sports Boston and stream live on WNBA League Pass.
Last time out on Sunday, the Connecticut Sun defeated the Atlanta Dream, 69-50, on the road in Atlanta. DeWanna Bonner led the Sun with her first double-double of the season, tallying 18 points, 10 rebounds, one assist and two blocks. This marked with the sixth time in 2024 that Bonner has led the Sun in scoring. Alyssa Thomas, the May WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month, finished with a rebounds-assists double-double, tallying eight points, a season-high 14 rebounds and 11 assists in the win.
With the win, the Sun now own the fifth longest win streak to begin the season in WNBA history, starting off the year with an 8-0 record. They are also now one of seven teams in WNBA history to start the regular season off with eight consecutive wins or better.
As of games through June 2, Sun forward Alyssa Thomas is first in assists per game (9.0) and fourth in rebounds per game (9.6) across the league. Brionna Jones is third in FG% in the WNBA, shooting 62.2% from the floor. The Mystics enter Tuesday’s contest coming off a 90-79 loss to the New York Liberty on Friday, May 31. Ariel Atkins led Washington with 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the effort. Head Coach Eric Thibault is in his second season as the head coach of Mystics and is 0-5 all-time against the Sun.
