GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Connecticut Sun dropped Game 3 of the WNBA Semifinals to the Chicago Sky, 76-72. The Sky now lead the series, 2-1.
  • DeWanna Bonner notched a double-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals for Connecticut.
  • Candace Parker led Chicago with 16 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocks.
  • With 18 points today, DeWanna Bonner moved passed Angel McCoughtry into eighth all-time in post-season points in WNBA history with 883 points. She also moved into fifth all-time in steals in WNBA post-season play with 75 takeaways.
  • With six points in today’s contest, Jonquel Jones passed Lindsay Whalen for fifth all-time in post-season scoring in Connecticut Sun history. She now has 331 points in 20 playoff contests.
  • The Sun trailed the Sky, 9-7, heading into the first media timeout of the contest. Natisha Hiedeman led Connecticut with four early points in the opening five minutes.
  • Connecticut led Chicago, 21-18, after the first quarter of the game. Bonner and Courtney Williams each had five points to lead the Sun in scoring through ten minutes of play.
  • The Sun got to the line nine times in the first quarter and shot 88.9% (8-9).
  • Chicago opened the second quarter on an 8-4 run to take a one-point lead, 26-25, with 6:07 remaining in the half. DiJonai Carrington and Brionna Jones each had buckets in that stretch.
  • The Sun responded on a 5-2 run to take back the lead, 30-28, with 4:20 to go in the half. Hiedeman nailed her first triple of the game on that run.
  • Connecticut stretched their lead out to six, 38-32, with 1:40 remaining in the second quarter. However, the Chicago responded on a 6-0 run, hitting two three-pointers, to tie the game at 38 apiece with 33.3 to go in the half.
  • The Sun trailed the Sky, 40-38, heading into half-time. Chicago finished the second quarter on an 8-0 run.
  • Hiedeman had 12 points, one rebound and one assist to lead Connecticut at the break. Parker finished the first half with 12 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks to lead Chicago.
  • Connecticut shot 33.3% (13-39) in the first half, while Chicago were 38.9% (14-36) from the field.
  • The Sky opened the second half on a 7-2 run to take a seven-point advantage, 47-40, forcing the Sun to call an early timeout with 6:59 to play in the quarter.
  • The Sun chipped away, cutting the Sky’s lead to one, 49-48, with 2:45 remaining in the third quarter.
  • Connecticut trailed Chicago, 56-55, after three quarters of action. The Sun were able to outscore the Sky, 17-16, in the third quarter.
  • Chicago opened the fourth quarter on a 10-9 run, taking a 66-64 lead with 5:57 to play in the contest. Jones had five of the Sun’s nine points in the first four minutes of the fourth.
  • The Sun were not able to close it out in the final minutes off the fourth, ultimately falling to the Sky in Game 3, 76-72.
  • Hiedeman finished with 14 points, one rebound and two assists. Williams and Jones each added 12 points in the effort.
  • Alyssa Thomas tied a post-season career-high with 13 rebounds in today’s game.

The Connecticut Sun host the Chicago Sky in Game 4 of the WNBA Semifinals on Tuesday, September 6 at 8PM ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Sky currently lead the best-of-five series, 2-1, making Tuesday’s contest a must-win for the Sun to keep their championship hopes alive.
