Uncasville, CT (January 21, 2025) – In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day this year, members of the Connecticut Sun front office participated in volunteer events, as well as hosted multiple youth basketball clinics across the state of Connecticut.

The Connecticut Sun Community Relations department partnered with Nicqueva Haughton, owner of The Shoebox by Elsada, for our MLK Day of Service event. With the help of the 2025 Connecticut Sun ambassadors, the team packed over 200 shoeboxes and bags with quality toiletries and winter supplies which will be donated to Her Time, a Connecticut-based support group serving women impacted by mass incarceration, and Fertility Goal’s inaugural event.

The Sun also hosted two Sun Academy basketball clinics in celebration of MLK Jr. Day. Between the organization’s two clinics- “No Days Off” Home Court Edition (Uncasville, CT) and Sun Academy “No Days Off” Clinic (Hamden, CT), over 45 young athletes participated in a 90-minute basketball training session including skill development, teamwork and character building.
