Uncasville, CT (April 11, 2024) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced the hiring of Ryan Newton PT, DPT, LAT, ATC as the team’s new head athletic trainer and physical therapist.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ryan to the Connecticut Sun,” said Stephanie White, Connecticut Sun head coach. “His vast experience in multiple professional sports, as well as his experiences as an athletic trainer and physical therapist, will benefit our players and our franchise tremendously.”
Newton joins the Sun after serving a year in the MLS as Real Salt Lake’s assistant athletic trainer and physical therapist. Prior to his time in Utah, Newton spent 6+ years in general sports medicine and performance, with experience ranging across the NFL and WNBA as a member of the New England Patriots’ and Indiana Fever’s support staffs.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Newton completed his degrees in physical therapy and athletic training at Northeastern University and Bridgewater State University, respectively. He returns to New England, bringing with him a strong passion for sports medicine and bridging the gap between performance and health.
