Connecticut Celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day with Virtual Panel

Uncasville, Conn. (January 28, 2021) – Earlier this week the Connecticut Sun announced the team will host a virtual panel discussion for National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).

The Sun’s inaugural NGWSD panel will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 6pm via Zoom. Participants interested in attending the virtual discussion can register until 10pm on Monday, Feb. 1 by heading to https://bit.ly/3iISJT5. On Tuesday, Feb. 2 registered participants will receive an email with the link to join the session.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day began in 1987 in Washington, D.C. as a day to recognize women’s sports. From that point on organizations and prominent female athletes and leaders joined together to bring attention to the promise of girls and women participation in sport. This year marks the 35th annual celebration since its inception.

Next Wednesday’s discussion will be moderated by Robyn Brown, the Sun’s Team Reporter and Marketing Coordinator. Brown will be joined by the Sun’s assistant coach Brandi Poole, Assistant Producer at ESPN Jenna Contreras and Solar Power dancer Kayla McGill.

The one-hour event will begin with an introduction of the panelists followed by dialogue centered around the importance of having girls and women representation and participation in sports. The discussion will then conclude with questions submitted by the participants for the panelists.
