Connecticut Sun Women’s History Month Recap and Photo Gallery

Uncasville, CT (March 31, 2025) – In honor of Women’s History Month, the Connecticut Sun hosted a series of dynamic and empowering events aimed at inspiring and uplifting women and girls throughout the month of March in Connecticut. These free events aimed at creating opportunities for personal and professional growth, offer participants the chance to connect with mentors, gain hands-on experience, and explore leadership opportunities.

To kick of the month of events on Friday, March 21, the Connecticut Sun Foundation hosted the Labors of Love Career Expo in Bridgeport, Connecticut, which provided high school girls from Central High School, Fairchild Wheeler, and Bullard Havens Technical School with the opportunity to explore diverse career paths, gain hands-on experience, and connect with inspiring women mentors. 89 high school girls attended the event which featured inspiring speakers, interactive demonstrations, lunch & learn sessions, breakout workshops on building confidence and mental health, and a catered brunch from Bougie Bite. The Connecticut Sun Foundation partnered with Adam Scobie and Felisha Guirand Fleurimond of Connecticut Stat College’s (Housatonic) School of Manufacturing to introduce the young women in attendance to pathways and careers that they never knew existed to maximize their chances of leading a successful and sustainable life.

On Tuesday, March 25, 42 middle and high school girls participated in Sunny Days Ahead: Girls Taking the Shot, a basketball-for-free shooting clinic and conversation, designed to teach participants about the importance of believing in oneself, both on and off the court. The clinic was hosted at the Mohegan Tribal Community Government Center in Uncasville, CT.

The Sun hosted the Who’s Gonna Stop Us: Leadership Summit for middle school girls at Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino on Friday, March 28. In partnership with My Sister’s Keeper, this free leadership summit was designed to inspire middle school girls to persevere beyond glass ceilings, build confidence and connect with empowering mentors. It featured a panel discussion from Connecticut Sun front office staff members, hands-on demonstrations, expert-led breakout sessions and free admission to GAME ON for food, bowling and arcade fun.

To close out Women’s History Month, the Sun partnered with The Campaign School at Yale University (TCS) to bring the Sunny Daze Ahead: Elevating the Game virtual conversation with TCS’s Executive Director, Patti Russo, on Monday, March 31. The online discussion featured a conversation on the future of women in leadership in sports and beyond.
