Uncasville, CT (April 12, 2022) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced that Alexus Dye, Delicia Washington, and Aleksa Gulbe signed training camp contracts extended by Head Coach and General Manager, Curt Miller.

Dye, a 6’0 forward from the University of Tennessee, averaged 10.2 points and 7.7 rebounds during the 2021-2022 season. During her final campaign as a Lady Volunteer, Dye was instrumental to her team’s success in both the SEC and NCAA tournaments, leading her team with an average of 17.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 51.3 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the free-throw line. Her performance landed her on the SEC All-Tournament Team. Dye began her collegiate career at Gulf Coast State, where she won a national title and was named WBCA Two-Year College Coaches’ All-American, NJCAA Division I Second-Team All-American, and MVP of the 2019 NJCAA National Tournament. Dye then moved on to Troy University where she received several accolades including All-Sun Belt Second Team (2019-20), All-Sun Belt First Team (2020-21), and Sun Belt Player of the Year (2020-21). The Birmingham, Alabama native finished her three-year NCAA Division I career with 1,104 points and 892 rebounds, averaging 12.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game and recording 39 career double-doubles.

“Alexus brings great energy and effort to the floor,” said Miller. “While an undersized post, she is relentless on the boards and has won at every level.”

Washington finished her collegiate career with two successful seasons at Clemson University, after playing three seasons for the University of Florida. The 5’10’’ guard from Macclenny, Florida amassed 1,861 points, 973 rebounds, 405 assists and 183 steals over five seasons. As a Tiger, she earned First Team All-ACC (Blue Ribbon Panel) (2022), Second Team All-ACC (Coaches) (2021, 2022), Second Team All-ACC Tournament (2022), ACC All-Academic Team (2021) and ACC Academic Honor Roll (2021) honors. She ended her two-year Clemson career as one of the most successful players in program history, becoming the first player to be named All-ACC twice in her career since the 2009-10 season. During her time at Florida, Washington was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Year (2017) and recorded the third triple-double in Florida program history in 2017-18 (12 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists).

“Delicia is an outstanding athlete with great length at the guard position,” Miller reflected. “She is a productive guard rebounder and a disruptive defender. Her energy is contagious.”

Gulbe, a 6’3” forward from Riga, Latvia, comes to Connecticut after a four-year collegiate career at Indiana University. She finished her time as a Hoosier with 1,071 career points, ranking her 28th on the program’s all-time scoring list. She also grabbed 618 rebounds, dished out 97 assists and blocked 112 shots, finishing ninth all-time in program history. Gulbe has earned All-Big Ten Second Team (2022) and All-Big Ten Honorable Mention (2021) honors. She also made three NCAA Tournament appearances while at Indiana, including an Elite Eight appearance in 2021. She leaves Indiana University one of the program’s three all-time winningest players with 90 victories in four seasons as a Hoosier, along with teammates Ali Patberg and Grace Berger. Gulbe also has overseas experience with the Lativan Senior National team.

“Aleksa is an efficient pick-and-pop post player, which will help our floor spacing,” Miller said. “She has great teammate intangibles which fit the culture we have created within our franchise.”
