The Sun Lives On

On March 27, 2026, the WNBA announced that the Connecticut Sun was officially sold to Tillman Fertitta and the Houston Rockets organization and will relocate all operations to Houston effective after the close of the 2026 season. The impact of this move reaches far beyond the franchise itself, bringing a significant change for longtime WNBA supporters and New England fans who have proudly called the Sun their home team for more than two decades.
What was unprecedented, however, was the Sun's commitment to giving fans a meaningful season by honoring the franchise's legacy. Through jersey retirements, community programming and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities fans had the chance to celebrate memories, relationships, and moments that defined more than two decades of Connecticut Sun basketball.
As our chapter here in Connecticut comes to a close, we want all of our fans -- previous and current -- to know that the Sun's legacy, while no longer active, lives on through you. Through the memories you've made, through the experiences you've shared and through your unparalleled fan-ship of our franchise. We are incredibly grateful to the fans across New England who have been part of this journey, and we hope the legacy we leave behind is one that has made this region proud.
One of the hardest parts of leaving Connecticut is saying goodbye to the communities we've impacted along the way. Through events, charitable efforts and volunteer projects, we have witnessed firsthand the generosity and spirit that make this region so special. As we close this chapter, we ask that you, our fans, take the torch and continue to give back to the very community that made this entire, history-making run possible.
