Sun Look for First Win on Tuesday Night vs. Wings

Uncasville, CT: The Connecticut Sun (0-4) return home to Mohegan Sun Arena on Tuesday, May 27 at 7:00 PM ET to host the 2025 No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings (0-4). Both teams enter Tuesday’s game looking for their first win of the season. The Sun are looking to avoid starting the season 0-5 for the first time since the 2020 season. The game will air on NBC Sports Boston, with Brendan Glasheen, Meghan McKeown, and Terrika Foster-Brasby on the call, and is also available to stream live on WNBA League Pass.

The Sun fell to the Atlanta Dream on the road on Sunday afternoon, 79-55. Marina Mabrey led the Sun in the effort, notching her third career double-double with a team-high 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in the game. The outing also marked Mabrey’s second career-game with 10+ rebounds. Tina Charles and Olivia Nelson-Ododa each added 11 points to round out the Sun’s double-digit scorers.

The Connecticut Sun swept the Dallas Wings during the 2024 regular season, 3-0. In their latest meeting on August 16, 2024, the Sun defeated the Wings, 109-91 on the road in Dallas. The game marked Marina Mabrey’s first game with the Sun and she finished with 17 points, four rebounds and three assists. The Sun enter Tuesday’s contest winning six of the last ten regular season meetings dating back to the 2022 season. The Sun is also 25-14 all-time against the Dallas Wings franchise when playing at home.

Dallas also enters Tuesday’s contest coming off a road-loss to the Atlanta Dream on Saturday afternoon, 83-75. Five Wings players finished in double-figures in the game, led by forward NaLyssa Smith who tallied 13 points. Third year forward Maddy Siegrist added 12 points and nine rebounds, rookie Paige Bueckers notched 11 points and Ty Harris and Teaira McCowan each scored 10 points. Head Coach Chris Koclanes enters his first season as the Head Coach of the Wings, after previously serving as an assistant coach for USC women’s basketball (2024), the Los Angeles Sparks (2023) and the Connecticut Sun (2019-2022).
