GAME PREVIEW: Connecticut Sun Open 2024 Campaign Tuesday Against Indiana

Uncasville, CT– The Connecticut Sun will tip off the 2024 WNBA Season at home, hosting the No. 1 overall selection in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Caitlin Clark, and the Indiana Fever on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:30pm ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will air on ESPN2 and is also available to stream on the ESPN app.

The Sun enter the 2024 campaign after finishing third in league standings last season (27-13), advancing to their fifth consecutive WNBA Semifinals, falling to New York, 3-1. Reigning WNBA Coach of the Year Stephanie White looks to lead Connecticut to their first WNBA Championship crown with a roster highlighted by the WNBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles and 2023 All-WNBA First Team member, Alyssa Thomas, five-time WNBA All-Star DeWanna Bonner and two-time WNBA All-Star Brionna Jones, who is returning after missing all but 13 games during 2023 with a torn Achilles.

Connecticut is 55-31 all-time vs. Indiana during regular season play and have won the last eight contests dating back to the 2021 season. Additionally, when playing at home against the Fever, the Sun have won the last 11 games, with their last loss coming on June 5, 2015 (88-77). This will be the second consecutive season Connecticut and Indiana will face off in their opening game, with Connecticut defeating Indiana in Indianapolis last year, 85-68, on May 19, 2023.

Indiana finished the 2023 season tenth in league standings, with a record of 13-27. The Fever went 1-1 in 2024 preseason competition, most recently picking up a win on Thursday night over the Atlanta Dream, 83-80. Head Coach Christie Sides is in her second season with Indiana.
