Connecticut Sun Sign Nirra Fields to Training Camp Contract

Uncasville, CT (February 17, 2023) – The Connecticut Sun has signed Nirra Fields to a training camp contract, the team announced today.

Fields, a 5-9 guard out of UCLA, was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2016 WNBA Draft. She appeared in four contests before ultimately being waived by the team. Fields has enjoyed great success playing at the international level for the Canadian National team, as well as overseas with a number of European squads. The Vancouver native most recently represented her country at the 2022 FIBA World Cup, where Canada finished fourth overall. Fields is currently playing overseas with Turkish club, Emlak Konut, where she is averaging 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

“Nirra Fields is a dynamic player we have watched continue to grow her game and become a two-way threat,” said Darius Taylor, Connecticut Sun General Manager. “She played extremely well in the World Cup in Australia and is someone we’re excited to give an opportunity to play in our league.”

The Sun tip off the 2023 season on Friday, May 19 at the Indiana Fever at 7:00 PM EST.
