  • The Sun defeated the Phoenix Mercury 84-67 and go up in the three-game series 2-0. The team improves to 4-0 on the season, the best start since 2018 when the team won its first five games.
  • Connecticut shot a season-high 44.7 percent from the field on 34-of-76 shots. For the third game this year, the Sun hit a season-high 10 three-pointers (10-26) for 38.5 percent.
    Connecticut jumped out to a 11-0 start in the first and finished the quarter with a 25-17 lead. The Sun scored five three-point field goals, one shy from tying the franchise record (6) set in 2019.
  • The Sun had an 18-point lead headed into the break (48-30), the team’s largest halftime lead of the season.
  • Four starters scored in double figures for the third time this season (5/16 + 5/19).
  • DeWanna Bonner scored her 500th point in a Sun uniform and became the fastest player to achieve this milestone in franchise history (26 games played). She finished the contest with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists in her first game back in Phoenix since being traded in 2020. Bonner tallied her 19th consecutive 10+ point game. She also shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
  • Jonquel Jones scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. She tallied her 42nd career double-double and third in a row. Jones is averaging 10.8 rebounds per game, placing her second in the league.
  • Jasmine scored a season high 15 points and shot 46.2 percent from the field (6-13) and 50 percent from behind the arc (3-6).
  • Natisha Hiedeman recorded her third straight game in double figures with 12 points.  Beatrice Mompremier and Kaila Charles tallied season highs in both points and rebounds. Mompremier recorded six points and six rebounds while Charles added five and five.
  • Both DiJonai Carrington and Stephanie Jones added four points apiece. Carrington also tallied three boards and three assists.
  • Connecticut recorded 48 rebounds, 17 of which were on the offensive end, to Phoenix’s 24. Each team scored seven fast break points and the Sun scored two more points in the paint than the Mercury (42-40).
  • Skylar Diggins-Smith led the Mercury with 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. Diana Taurasi followed with 13 points and four assists.
