Uncasville, CT (April 15, 2024) – The Connecticut Sun selected Leïla Lacan, Taiyanna Jackson, Helena Pueyo and Abbey Hsu in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Lacan, a 5-11 guard, comes to Connecticut after playing two seasons with French League club, Angers. The France native averaged 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.9 steals over 24 contests for Angers during the 2023-24 season. Lacan brings a plethora of international experience to the Sun, having represented France on a junior and senior level. She has competed with the Senior French National Team at the 2025 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Qualifiers Tournament (beginning in November 2023) and the 2023 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Team, taking home the bronze medal in June 2023. Lacan has also represented France at the 2019 FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship, the 2021 FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup, the 2022 FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship and the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup.

Jackson joins the Sun after finishing her collegiate career at the University of Kansas. The 6-6 center played her freshman and sophomore seasons at Trinity Valley Community College (2019-2021) before transferring to Kansas for her last three seasons. During her graduate campaign, Jackson averaged 12.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 3.0 blocks per game. She leaves Kansas with a plethora of accolades including All-Big 12 First Team (2023, 24), All Big-12 Defensive Team (2022, 23, 24), WNIT Most Valuable Player (2023), WBCA All-America Honorable Mention (2023, 24) and Honorable Mention All-Big 12 (2022). She also holds the Kansas women’s basketball program record with 301 career blocks and leaves second in career double-doubles with 41, behind Lynette Woodard.

Pueyo joins the Sun after completing her collegiate career at the University of Arizona. The 6-0 guard played five seasons with the Wildcats and closed out her graduate campaign averaging a career-best 9.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Pueyo picked up All Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honors this year by both Pac-12 coaches and media members. The Palma de Mallorca, Spain native finished her collegiate career strong, scoring in double-figures in nine of the last ten games of Arizona’s season and averaging 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals over two NCAA tournament contests. Pueyo has also competed for Spain on an international level, most recently playing on the Spanish FIBA U20 Women’s European Challengers squad in 2021.

Hsu (pronounced SHOO) joins the Sun after completing her collegiate career at Columbia University. The 5-11 guard played four seasons with the Lions and closed out her senior campaign averaging a career and Ivy league-best 20.4 points, along with 7.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per contest. Hsu led Columbia to back-to-back Ivy League regular season championships (2022-23, 2023-24), as well as the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance (2024). The Parkland, Florida native leaves Columbia with a plethora of accolades including Ivy League Player of the Year (2024), AP All-America Honorable Mention (2024), WBCA All-America Honorable Mention (2023, 24), First-Team All-Ivy League (2023, 24), Second-Team All-Ivy League (2020, 22) and First Team All-Met (2022, 23). Hsu also graduates as the program’s all-time leader in points (2,126), field goals made (751), three-point field goals made (375) and games played (123).

Connecticut will tip off the 2024 regular season on Tuesday, May 14 against the Indiana Fever at 7:30 PM EST at Mohegan Sun Arena.
