Connecticut Sun Acquires Tiffany Mitchell and the No. 19 Overall Pick

Uncasville, CT (January 31, 2024) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced that the organization has acquired eight-year veteran guard Tiffany Mitchell and the No. 19 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft from the Minnesota Lynx, in exchange for Natisha Hiedeman.

The Connecticut Sun now has the 10th, 19th, 22nd and 34th picks in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Tiffany Mitchell, originally drafted 9th overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, comes to Connecticut after playing the 2023 season with the Minnesota Lynx. The 5-9 guard averaged 7.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists over 33 regular season contests for the Lynx in 2023. Prior to Minnesota, Mitchell played seven seasons with the Indiana Fever from 2016-2022. The Charlotte, North Carolina native left her mark on the Fever organization, as she currently sits fifth all-time in scoring, seventh all-time in assists and ninth all-time in steals in franchise history.

Prior to the WNBA, Mitchell was a standout at the University of South Carolina where she was named the SEC Player of the Year twice in her career (2014, 2015). She helped lead the Gamecocks to the 2015 NCAA Final Four and two SEC Tournament championships. Mitchell ranks among the program’s all-time top five in 10 career stats, including school records for games started and games played.

This offseason, Mitchell played briefly with Turkish club, Galatasaray, where she averaged 16.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists over seven contests. She is currently slated to compete in the 2024 Athletes Unlimited season which begins February 29 in Dallas, TX.

Mitchell and the Sun tip off the 2024 season on Tuesday, May 14 against the Indiana Fever at 8:00 PM EST at Mohegan Sun Arena.
