UNCASVILLE, CT (May 19, 2026) – The Connecticut Sun announced today that the organization will honor a distinguished group of former players and coaches as Sun Legends during select home games throughout the team’s Sunset Season. Each honoree has made a lasting and meaningful impact on the franchise through exceptional performance, leadership, and dedication, helping shape the Connecticut Sun into one of the WNBA’s premier organizations.

“As we prepare to close this extraordinary chapter of Connecticut Sun basketball, it’s incredibly important that we take the time to honor the people who built this franchise and shaped its identity over the last two decades,” said Jen Rizzotti, Connecticut Sun President. “These players and coaches gave everything to this organization, to our fans, and to the state of Connecticut. Their impact goes far beyond wins and statistics. They created a standard of excellence, toughness, professionalism, and community that will always define the Connecticut Sun. Celebrating these legends throughout our Sunset Season is our way of ensuring their contributions are recognized, remembered, and forever connected to the history of this franchise.”

These honorees will join current Sun Legends Taj McWilliams-Franklin’s (11), Margo Dydek (12), Nykesha Sales (42), Katie Douglas (23), Lindsay Whalen (13), and Asjha Jones (15) in the rafters at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Sun Legends Honorees and Dates

Jonquel Jones played for the Connecticut Sun from 2016-2022. She ranks sixth in franchise history with 196 games played and stands fifth all-time in points scored (2,657). One of the most dominant post players in team history, she ranks first in blocks (270) and third in rebounds (1,633). Jones contributed across the stat sheet, finishing 13th in assists (315), ninth in steals (178), seventh in three-pointers made (212), and third in double-doubles (68), solidifying her legacy as one of the most versatile and impactful players the Sun has ever had. Jones will be honored during the Connecticut Sun’s game against the New York Liberty on Monday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Jasmine Thomas played for the Sun from 2015 to 2022. A true floor general, she ranks second all-time in assists (994) and steals (286), highlighting her leadership and two-way impact. Known as an iron woman during her time with the Sun, Thomas is third in franchise history in games played with 222 appearances and sits seventh all-time in scoring (2489). Thomas also ranks 13th in rebounds (666) and blocks (55), third in three-pointers made (274), and 15th in double-doubles (4), leaving an indelible mark on the organization. Thomas will be honored during halftime of the Sun’s game against the Dallas Wings on Thursday, July 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET at PeoplesBank Arena.

Curt Miller served as the Connecticut Sun’s Head Coach and General Manager from 2016 through 2022, compiling a 140–86 overall record while coaching 226 games as head coach, ending his time with the Sun with a 61.95 winning percentage. Under his leadership, the Sun became a perennial championship contender, earning him WNBA Coach of the Month honors three times (July 2017, August 2021, and September 2021). Miller was also named both WNBA and Associated Press Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2021, marking one of the most successful coaching tenures in franchise history. Miller will be honored alongside Jasmine Thomas during the Sun’s game against the Dallas Wings on Thursday, July 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET at PeoplesBank Arena.

Tina Charles was drafted 1^st overall by the Sun in the 2010 WNBA Draft and played for the Sun from 2010 to 2013 and returned to Connecticut for her final season in the WNBA during the 2025 season. She ranks eighth in franchise history in games played with 173 appearances and is third all-time in points (2,943) and second in rebounds (1,658). She also ranks third in blocks (211) and stands alone as the franchise’s all-time leader in double-doubles (87), underscoring her consistent dominance in the post. Additionally, Charles ranks 15th in assists (287) and 16th in steals (128), further highlighting her overall impact during her time with the Sun. Charles will be honored during a ceremony at Mohegan Sun Arena during the Sun’s matchup against the Golden State Valkyries on July 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Alyssa Thomas stands as one of the most accomplished players in franchise history, ranking first all-time in games played with 319 appearances. She is the Connecticut Sun’s all-time leader in points (3,889), rebounds (2,396), assists (1,463), and steals (494), an extraordinary testament to her durability and all-around excellence. Thomas also ranks sixth in blocks (104), second in double-doubles (82), and is the first and only player in Sun history to record a triple-double, a feat she managed 11 times during her Sun career, cementing her legacy as one of the most dominant and versatile players the organization has ever seen. Thomas will be honored when the Connecticut Sun’s take on the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, August 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Mike Thibault served as head coach of the Connecticut Sun from 2003 to 2012, guiding the franchise through its early years and establishing a culture of sustained success. He compiled a 206–134 record across 340 games, finishing with a 60.59 winning percentage. Thibault was named WNBA Coach of the Year twice, earning the honor in both 2006 and 2008, and remains one of the most influential figures in Sun history. Thibault will be honored during the Connecticut Sun’s Homecoming Game against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, September 20 at 1:00 p.m. ET at Mohegan Sun Arena.
