2025 Player Season Recaps: Tina Charles' Historic 2025 Season with the Sun

Uncasville, CT — In her 14th WNBA season and first with the Connecticut Sun since 2013, veteran center Tina Charles delivered a remarkable campaign that blended elite production with historic milestones. Signing with the Sun as a free agent on February 2, Charles quickly re-established herself as a dominant presence on the court and a leader in the locker room.

Charles led the Sun in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game, while also contributing 5.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.4 blocks per contest. She shot a career-best 85.7% from the free-throw line and was a consistent offensive engine throughout the season.

Her return to Connecticut was marked by a series of historic achievements. On July 11 against Seattle, Charles became just the fourth player in WNBA history to eclipse 8,000 career points. She followed that with her 1,000th career assist on July 28, also against Seattle. Charles moved into first place all-time in WNBA history in field goals made, offensive rebounds, and games played, becoming the league’s all-time leader in each category. She also became the Connecticut Sun’s all-time leader in double-doubles.

Charles set a new franchise single-season scoring record with 700 points and led or co-led the Sun in scoring 21 times, rebounding 15 times, and field goals made 23 times. She posted 15 games with 20 or more points, scored in double figures in 35 games, and recorded seven double-doubles.

Her season-high 29 points came in a dominant performance against Seattle on July 9, where she also grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds—a mark she matched again on July 15 against Indiana. On July 27 against Golden State, Charles posted a +39 plus-minus rating, the highest in league history for a player who played fewer than 19 minutes in a game.

Charles was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the period of August 18–24, further cementing her status as one of the league’s most impactful veterans. She was also named the recipient of the Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award, recognizing her extraordinary commitment to service, social justice, and creating lasting impact in the communities she serves.

Tina Charles’ 2025 season was a masterclass in longevity, leadership, and excellence, and her return to the Sun will be remembered as one of the most significant chapters in her storied career.
