Uncasville, CT- Aaliyah Edwards made her return to Connecticut in 2025, joining the Sun mid-season after being acquired in a trade with the Washington Mystics on August 7. The move brought her back to familiar territory, following a standout collegiate career at the University of Connecticut from 2020 to 2024. Edwards quickly embraced her role in the Sun’s rotation, bringing energy, toughness, and a strong defensive presence to the frontcourt. Over 15 regular season games with Connecticut, she averaged 4.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.

Across the full season with both teams, Edwards appeared in 36 regular season contests and posted averages of 5.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.4 blocks. She made her Sun debut on August 10 against the Las Vegas Aces and quickly made her mark. On August 17 against Indiana, she eclipsed 400 career points, and on September 3 against Chicago, she grabbed her 300th career rebound while also logging a season-high 27 minutes. That game also marked one of two occasions where she pulled down a season-best eight rebounds, the other coming on September 10 against Atlanta. Her top scoring performance in a Sun uniform came on August 30 against Minnesota, when she posted 11 points.

Her return to Connecticut marked a meaningful chapter in her professional journey, reconnecting her with the state where she built her collegiate legacy. Edwards quickly became a steady contributor for the Sun, bringing energy, toughness, and familiarity to the roster in her first season back in New England.
