Teron Haughton
Composed of passionate local coaches who work with young athletes across New England, Sun Academy coaches are the backbone of the Connecticut Sun's youth basketball outreach efforts. Dedicated to serving their communities and inspiring healthy, active lifestyles through sport, these coaches selflessly invest their time, energy, and expertise into the next generation.
Throughout the coming month, the Connecticut Sun will spotlight members of the Sun Academy coaching staff to recognize their service, celebrate their professional accomplishments, and provide the community with opportunities to learn more about and support these influential leaders.
Our first featured Sun Academy coach is Teron Haughton, commonly known as Coach T.
A seasoned basketball coach with more than 15 years of experience, Coach T is deeply committed to helping young athletes reach their full potential. His coaching philosophy is rooted in attention to detail, player development and a commitment to mastering the fundamentals of the game. He works to develop not only better basketball players, but more confident, discipline and resilient young people by strengthening basketball IQ, building mental toughness and using the game as a platform for life lessons. Discipline, perseverance, accountability and teamwork are at the heart of his approach, shaping how he coaches and mentors every athlete he serves.
Most recently, Teron served as Director of Basketball Operations for the 2026 Andre Drummond "All-Stars" Basketball Camp, helping lead the planning, development and execution of a two-day experience that brought together more than 260 young athletes for high-level basketball instruction, mentorship and inspiration. His responsibilities included overseeing all on-court basketball operations, coordinating coaches and programming, and helping bring the vision for the camp to life. He was also selected as a 2026 Jr. WNBA All-Star Clinician, an opportunity he ultimately declined due to his commitment to the Andre Drummond All-Stars program.

Coach T is a Board Member and Partner with CT Ballers United, a Connecticut-based AAU organization competing at the highest levels, both locally and nationally. He serves as a coach within the program with a particular focus on developing high school athletes. He's also a USA Basketball Gold Licensed Coach and a USA Basketball Youth Development Certified Coach.
Beyond basketball, Teron brings extensive leadership experience from a distinguished career in financial services. He serves as the Director of Model Portfolios at Franklin Templeton, one of the world's leading global asset management firms. He is the Founder and CEO of TH5Media, a marketing and consulting company that provides creative, strategic and digital solutions to organizations across a variety of industries.
Coach T's commitment to leadership and service extends deeply into his faith community. At Revival Church in Hamden, Connecticut, he serves as an executive leader and Director of Technology, overseeing the church's technology, marketing, media and production operations. At the organizational level, he was recently elevated to Chief Operating Officer of Mount Calvary Holy Churches of America, Inc., where he helps provide strategic and operational leadership across the organization.
His commitment to family and entrepreneurship is shared with his wife, Nicqueva Haughton, the CEO of Elsada Shoes. High school sweethearts, the Haughtons are the proud parents of three children and co-authors of The Marriage Cookbook, a book that shares their personal experiences and insights on building a lasting marriage.
Whether through basketball, business, ministry or family, Teron is passionate about developing people, building organizations and creating meaningful opportunities for others. His work is driven by a desire to lead with purpose, serve with excellence and leave a lasting positive impact on every community he touches.
