The Connecticut Sun Signs Diamond Battles to Training Camp Contract

Uncasville, CT (April 30, 2023) – The Connecticut Sun has signed guard, Diamond Battles to a training camp contract, the team announced today.

Battles comes to Connecticut after finishing her collegiate career at the University of Georgia. The graduate transfer averaged a team-high 14.7 points, along with 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals for the Bulldogs, earning her 2023 All-SEC Second Team and All-Defensive Team honors. Battles scored in double figures in 27 of 34 games with eight 20-point performances, including a pair of 21-points games in the NCAA Tournament. Prior to Georgia, Battles played four seasons at the University of Central Florida. During her final season with UCF, the 5-8 guard was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, along with WBCA All-America Honorable Mention, unanimous First Team All-AAC and the American Championship Most Outstanding Player honors.  

Connecticut will tip off the 2023 regular season on Friday, May 19 at the Indiana Fever at 7:00 PM EST. The Sun will return to Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, May 21 for its Home Opener against the Washington Mystics at 1:00 P.M. EST.
