Sun Will Try to Keep Championship Hopes Alive in Must-Win Game 4 Against Lynx on Sunday

Uncasville, CT: The No. 3 seed Connecticut Sun (28-12, 1-2) host the No. 2 seed Minnesota Lynx (30-10, 2-1) in Game 4 of the WNBA Semifinals on Sunday, October 6 at 5:00 PM ET at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Lynx currently lead the best-of-five series, 2-1, making this game a must-win for the Sun to keep their WNBA Championship hopes alive. The game will air on ESPN and stream live on the ESPN app.

The Connecticut Sun fell to the Minnesota Lynx in Game 3 of the WNBA Semifinals, 90-71, on Friday night in Uncasville. All five Connecticut starters finished in double-figures, with Brionna Jones tallying a team-high 21 points, four rebounds and five assists. It marked her first double-digit outing during the 2024 postseason thus far and first 20+ point postseason performance since August 21, 2022. DeWanna Bonner finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in the game. With 16 points on the night, she passed Candace Parker for second all-time in scoring in WNBA postseason history. Bonner now has 1,159 points through a WNBA record 85 postseason contest appearances.

The Connecticut Sun are 2-5 all-time in series Game 4 contests and 12-16 all-time when facing elimination during the WNBA postseason. During the 2023 WNBA Semifinals, the Sun found themselves down, 1-2, when entering Game 4 at home against the New York Liberty. Connecticut dropped the series, losing Game 4, 87-84. However, during the 2022 WNBA Semifinals, the Sun also found themselves down, 1-2, when entering Game 4 at home against the Chicago Sky. Connecticut went on to win Game 4 and force a Game 5 in Chicago, where they were also victorious and moved onto the WNBA Finals.

Connecticut is 32-27 all-time against Minnesota during the regular season and 3-3 record during postseason play. The two teams first and only playoff matchup prior to 2024 came a season ago when the Sun defeated the Lynx, 2-1, in the First Round of the 2023 WNBA Playoffs.
