Brooklyn, NY: The Connecticut Sun travel to Brooklyn to face off against the New York Liberty in their second preseason game of the 2025 season on Friday, May 9 at 7:00 PM ET at the Barclays Center. The matchup marks the Sun’s final tune-up before the 2025 WNBA regular season begins. The game will be available to stream live on WNBA League Pass.

On Sunday, May 4, Connecticut dropped their first preseason game on the road against the Seattle Storm, 79-59. Veteran forward Tina Charles led the way in scoring for the Sun in her first game in a Connecticut uniform since the 2013 season. She finished with 13 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 20 minutes of action. The Sun were missing veteran guards Diamond DeShields (OUT due to right ankle injury management) and Marina Mabrey (OUT due to right calf injury management), along with promising rookies Leila Lacan (NWT due to overseas obligations), Aneesah Morrow (OUT due to right knee injury management) and Saniya Rivers (NWT for personal reasons).

Connecticut hosted New York in their lone exhibition contest last season, with the Liberty coming away with an 82-79 victory. Friday’s contest will mark the Sun’s sixth preseason game against the Liberty over the last eight seasons, with the Sun boasting a 4-1 record. Dating back to the 2015 season, the Sun are 17-4 in preseason contests overall.

The Liberty welcomes back many key pieces from their 2024 WNBA Championship roster including two-time WNBA MVP forward Breanna Stewart, who re-signed on a one-year deal with the team in March. Additionally, five-time WNBA All-Star forward Jonquel Jones and three-time All-WNBA Second Team member Sabrina Ionescu highlight the returners for New York. The Liberty also picked up new additions including point-guard Natasha Cloud and forward Isabelle Harrison earlier this year. Head Coach Sandy Brondello enters her fourth season at the helm in New York, posting a regular season record of 80-36.
