Sun Acquire First Round Pick From Los Angeles Sparks

Uncasville, Conn. (April 27, 2019) – The Connecticut Sun announced today that the team has acquired the Los Angeles Sparks’ first round pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft in exchange for Chiney Ogwumike.

Ogwumike played three seasons for the Sun after being drafted first overall in 2014.

“We would like to thank Chiney Ogwumike for her contributions to our organization since 2014,” Sun head coach and general manager Curt Miller said. “We wish her well with her career and expanding her off court interests.”

The Sun will open the 2019 WNBA season on Saturday, May 25 against the Washington Mystics. Connecticut returns nine players from the 2017 and 2018 rosters and is the only team that finished in the top-four in the regular season both of those years.

Game time at Mohegan Sun Arena for the home opener is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting ConnecticutSun.com or calling 1-877-SUN-TIXX.
