Storey returns to Sun staff as Player Development Coach

The Connecticut Sun announced today that Awvee Storey will return as the Player Development Coach.

Storey will enter his second season with Connecticut after helping lead the team to the 2019 WNBA Finals. The Sun posted a 23-11 regular season record and a 5-3 record in playoffs. This was the team’s first appearance in the WNBA Finals since 2012.

Prior to his time with the Sun, Storey served as an assistant coach with the Capital City Go-Go in the G League in 2018 and during 2017 was an assistant coach with the Chicago Sky.

Upon graduation from Arizona State, Storey spent time competing in the NBA and internationally. He was a member with the New Jersey Nets, Washington Wizards, Milwaukee Bucks and Dakota Wizards of the NBA Development League.

“Awvee made an immediate and big impact during his first season with the Sun, so it is exciting for our entire organization to announce his return for the 2020 season,” head coach Curt Miller said. “Awvee will spear head our expanded player development role helping the growth of our players on and off the court. Awvee will continue to have video and scouting responsibilities while working alongside assistant coaches Brandi Poole and Chris Koclanes.”
